Momart Gallery

Momart Gallery is a contemporary art gallery in the heart of the Sassi of Matera, set in a space-cave in which limestone rock is chromatically alternated with a more contemporary exhibition white cube.

Expected and aspired co-creation

We invite contemporary artists who are capable of developing projects rooted in a strong artistic and conceptual vision, and who are actively engaged in the contemporary art scene. We are looking for individuals who can create works that combine experimental research with solid foundations in artisanal production, using materials and techniques such as ceramics, papier-mâché, photography, and other hybrid forms of expression.

Our interest lies in supporting practices that emphasize the creative process and experiential inquiry, encouraging deep reflection on the languages and dynamics of contemporary art. We value works that not only reflect the artist’s personal research but are also responsive to the cultural, social, and spatial contexts in which they are developed.

The location we offer provides a stimulating environment for both conceptual co-design and, in some cases, on-site production. Artists will have the opportunity to work in close connection with the space and its resources, enabling the creation of new works directly on-site—such as graphic compositions, installations, or sculptural elements—depending on the needs and nature of each individual project.

Our goal is to foster a meaningful exchange between the artist, the space, and the surrounding context, promoting an integrated approach that brings together idea, material, and territory. By offering not only physical space but also conceptual and collaborative support, we aim to create fertile ground for the development of original and thoughtful artistic practices.

This opportunity is ideal for artists who are eager to explore new dimensions of making—where craftsmanship, experimentation, and contemporary themes intersect.
