Expected and aspired co-creation
As part of the Craftwork 4.0 ALL project, ESPRONCEDA – Institute of Art & Culture is excited to host two craft practitioners for a co-creation residency that merges traditional craftsmanship with new digital technologies. Our goal is to collaboratively develop a final digital craft piece that reflects the intersection between heritage and innovation. This work will be exhibited during our annual IMMENSIVA Festival (September–October), with additional opportunities for presentation throughout the year in ESPRONCEDA’s ongoing cultural programming.
We envision the final piece as a hybrid art object or immersive experience — possibly combining physical craft techniques (textiles, ceramics, woodwork, etc.) with digital media such as 3D scanning, projection mapping, sound art, or augmented reality. The format and content will be co-developed with the practitioners, based on their personal vision and skills, ensuring a meaningful and balanced collaboration. The creative process will be research-driven and iterative. It will begin with an exploration of materials, methods, and concepts, followed by prototyping and experimentation with digital tools. We encourage an open, dialogical approach, and the artists will have access to ESPRONCEDA’s facilities, network, and mentoring support throughout the process.
ESPRONCEDA will provide expertise in digital arts, new media, immersive technologies, and curatorial support. We will also offer guidance in conceptual development, exhibition planning, and promotion.
In return, we hope to gain insight into the practitioners’ specific craft traditions, manual techniques, and creative philosophies. This exchange of knowledge will enrich our understanding of how traditional practices can evolve through collaboration with contemporary digital tools, and contribute to our ongoing mission to foster interdisciplinary and intercultural artistic dialogue.
