Äppelgården Slöinge

Äppelgården in Slöinge is a garden café with a musterie in Slöinge between Falkenberg and Halmstad. Here you can enjoy 200 beautiful old apple trees and have coffee in the garden and in our small apple barn. Our goal is to bake with local ingredients from the farm and our fantastic Halland countryside! During autumn and spring we also hold courses and workshops. The farm has been run by Jon and Jennie Dahlén since 2024 with the goal of creating a vibrant meeting place all year round.

themes involved in our work

  • Circularity (e.g. reusing materials)
  • Inclusion (of people with fewer opportunities)
  • Entrepreneurship / business development

Expected and aspired co-creation

As a resident, you are invited to engage with the site through artistic research and hands-on work related to themes such as:

– Natural dyeing using plant-based materials from the garden and surrounding landscape
– Remake and upcycling of textiles with a focus on circular design and heritage techniques
– Textile art and artistic explorations linked to garden and park environments, including site-specific installations

The residency emphasizes exchange and learning. At the end of your stay, you will host a public workshop where you’ll meet Swedish craftspeople and share your artistic process, insights, or techniques. This is an opportunity to foster dialogue, inspire others, and contribute to the vibrant network of sustainable craft and art in the district of Halland.
