During my time with the hosting institution, our collaboration was a profoundly positive and enriching experience. The paper-making course, though compressed into three full and energetic days, was exceptionally well-organized and yielded a wealth of knowledge. I was thoroughly impressed by the depth of information provided, and I believe the curriculum could easily be extended to two weeks if paced more slowly. This collaboration was a testament to the institution's commitment to delivering a high-quality, impactful learning experience.
The three-day workshop was an exceptional opportunity to learn the intricate and beautiful art of papermaking. I gained hands-on experience with a range of techniques, including creating basic white, recycled, colored, and embedded papers using various materials like newspaper and natural elements. Beyond the technical skills, the experience also enhanced my ability to collaborate and work efficiently in a team environment. I'm confident that I can now apply all of these techniques to continue my papermaking practice at home. The resulting co-created artwork was a massive three-piece paper sheet. The base was a vibrant yellow, and each section was embedded with colored paper from every participant, creating a beautiful and unique collage. The final piece was a visual story, a collective puzzle that could be read both from right to left and in reverse.
The most valuable lesson from this workshop was learning to make paper at home using everyday items, a skill that empowers me to create anywhere, even outdoors. The experience also led to the development of enduring friendships and collaborations with fellow participants, with whom I continue to stay in touch and plan future projects.
