Co-creation Experience – Eleni Gkaitatzi – Sweden

"The whole experience was delightful and very interesting!Im ver satisfied from everyone’s energy and behaviour!I loved the space of the Academy and the castle we stayed! Also I’m very satisfied about the new skills I learned and people I met!"

Introduction

The whole experience of the programme was much better than I have imagined!I loved the co-creation process. Our instructor Bill is a very interesting and intelligent teacher and he gave us very useful new information and guidelines to linocut. Everyone in the team was open and respectful and we cooperated in such a nice way. We also did a group art work and we printed it so we could took it with us back home. We used all the tools together and we helped each other during the 3 days. We shared opinions and techniques and we learned new ways to print, scrape etc. I think that our team was incredible! I enjoyed a lot the whole process of creating these pieces a lot. I experimented with new techniques and inks and I tried new ways of printing on different press machines. I made some mistakes and they teach me even better for my future projects. I decided to create a celestial inspired project with the sun and the moon because I believe at the power of the universe and its energy!I also created an evil eye project and after that we created the group project with evil eyes in which everyone of the team designed an eye which according to Greek culture will protect us from the bad vibes and luck.

Activities Undertaken

We learned many new things and techniques! We tried different ways to print an a variety of papers and we used a lot of different print machines. We also tried new inks, ways to dry our art pieces, how to use the etching tools and the right way to prepare our linoleums. We also saw the other teams and got an idea an how they work which was a very nice way to observe new arts. The host organisation was very helpful and kind during the academy and whatever we needed they were there for us!

Benefits Achieved

The most important for me was the people. The amazing artists we met from all over the Europe! They had very good energy and we discussed about future collaborations! Also our instructor who helped us learn new things and was very kind! Secondary, the new skills we got on linocut and the new tips and tricks are very interesting and helpful for our creative projects in the future. Also Tidaholm and the academy were very beautiful and different from what I have seen in the past at my country.
