Vitina Vinelli

Besides being a pastry chef at the Moseyon hotel, thanks to my mother’s teachings on how to knit, I started weaving 7 years ago.
For years, my creations have focused on crochet, including women’s accessories and homeware, cooperating with many boutiques.
Now I spend most of my time experimenting and researching new patterns, yarns and textiles, using a pedal loom, a table loom, as well as lesser-known tools such as weaving cards.
Lately I have been approaching sustainable yarns such as bloom.

I already took part in Craftwork4.0All by flying to Greece for the Craft Movement, attending local Coffee Talks in Matera (Italy) and networking with local and international craft practitioners.

Lately I have been developing a tapestry representing a laurel wreath, a common symbol between Greece and Italy, as I have reflected on how to contribute to the co-creation workshop in Thessaloniki, hosted by CUBE Greece, where I co-led with Ivan Donev (a fashion and costumes designer from Bulgaria) a participatory workshop with the local community.

My favourite technique is table loom, where I usually weave accessories and peplos (or chiton), an ancient greek garment. To complete such a garment, I create trimmings with card weaving
