“Chycheri”, the name of Anastasiya Vasylyk brand, established in 2015, represents the wealth of Ukrainian historical ornaments and traditional clothes, mystical symbols, and amulets in a modern stylish artistic interpretation. The Ukrainian etno is an extremely profound layer of a completely unexplored and unknown, rich European culture that serves as a source of inspiration not only for Ukrainians. The etno dates back to ancient times.
After deep studies on the history of Ukrainian traditional costumes (clothing) and types and ornaments of traditional motives and embroidery of versions regions and epochs Anastasiya Vasylyk has elaborated her own author’s technique of decor. It is based on creating in handmade way a thread and to fix it into the texture of the material in the shape of volumes ornaments, as an artistic stylisation based on original Ukrainian ornaments of various regions of Ukraine. Each item by Chycheri has a different exclusive ornament and the designer creates ornaments using symbolic metalanguage of Ukrainian traditional heritage decoding artistic symbols so that they each time communicate a different message.
Chycheri clothing – follows the idea that contemporary etnostyle is not only of the artistic aesthetic value but creates a very important metaphorical language of Ukrainian identity – a strong woman that testifies her powerful cultural self-identity in the complicated conditions of today’s reality.
