Villette Makerz
Villette Makerz is a collaborative design and fabrication laboratory, a FabLab, and a cultural space located in the Folie des Merveilles at Parc de la Villette. A constantly evolving third place, it is open to anyone who wishes to connect ideas and materials by combining contemporary creative technologies with artisanal know-how.
On weekends, the general public (children, families, adults) can discover “making together” through free and open access activities. During the week, professionals (entrepreneurs, companies, public authorities) experiment, exchange ideas, and produce.
By linking culture and education, science and technology, Villette Makerz supports Paris’s creative communities in mobilizing their natural talents and creative energy in service of private actors, local authorities, and the wider public, helping them to develop their own locally inspired cultural goods.
Links with craft sector
Located in the heart of Paris’s Parc de la Villette, Villette Makerz is a creative hub dedicated to experimentation, fabrication, and interdisciplinary exchange. It fosters dialogue between traditional craftsmanship and emerging technologies, championing hybrid and inclusive practices. As the French coordinator of Craftwork 4.0 All, Villette Makerz designs and implements training formats, co-creation labs, and public engagement programs within the platform.

France brings together three key institutions within the Craftwork 4.0 All platform, each offering a unique perspective and expertise to support a new generation of craftspeople. Together, they promote sustainable, inclusive, and forward-thinking approaches to contemporary making. Leading the French participation in this European initiative is Villette Makerz, which acts as national coordinator.

Each September, Paris Design Week transforms the city into a vibrant stage for contemporary design, attracting international attention and offering a space for experimental approaches and emerging voices.
In collaboration with Craftwork 4.0 All, the French partners are preparing a series of public events during Paris Design Week that highlight the role of craft in addressing today’s cultural and ecological challenges. From exhibitions and demonstrations to performances and artist talks, these programs will invite audiences to experience craftsmanship as a evolving practice deeply rooted in materials yet open to innovation and digital tools.
