Paula Meier

I’m Paula, a Nomad Maker who loves exploring how technology and craft can meet. I create with digital fabrication machines, like laser cut, 3d printing, cnc… But what excites me most is the process of experimenting, trying new mixes, breaking rules, and seeing how far an idea can go. My projects often bring together sustainability, playfulness, and curiosity: from transforming waste into new materials to blending artisanal techniques with tech machines. I also enjoy sharing this approach with others, designing workshops for kids, students, and professionals. For me, making is a way to connect people, spark creativity, and imagine different futures together.

My craft is digital fabrication. Over the years I’ve learned to see machines not just as tools, but as creative partners. What I enjoy most is pushing them into unexpected areas, like printing directly on fabric, combining embroidery with parametric design, or experimenting with materials made from local waste. I like projects where precision and unpredictability meet: I can design something digitally, but once it’s on the machine, it often surprises me. That playful, hands-on discovery is my favorite “technique.” Digital fabrication gives me a flexible base that I can remix with whatever fascinates me at the moment, whether it’s textiles, biomaterials, or something completely new.

Craft projects

Bioconstruction

Hands-on bioconstruction experiment using natural and recycled materials. Testing how making can support ecological and community-focused practices.
We build this house in Granada, south of Spain using the materials from the area.

3D Textile

Experiment combining 3D printing with fabric. By printing directly onto textiles, I explored how digital precision can interact with the flexibility of cloth, creating new textures and structures that merge craft and technology.

Biomaterial panels

Experimental biomaterial panels for a museum project. The pieces explore sustainability and material innovation. We blend handmaking with digital fabrication. Instead of using ink to print the text for the panels, we engraved them with laser.

Collaborative project

Collaborative project developed with a local community, combining digital fabrication tools with collective making. The piece highlights my interest in co-creation, knowledge sharing, and using technology as a bridge between people and ideas.
