The year 2026 marks a pivotal moment for this craft, as its recognition as an emblematic element of intangible heritage will be submitted to the Wallonia-Brussels Federation. This event brings together professionals, historians, and institutions to discuss the future of this unique trade.

Program Highlights

The afternoon offers a mix of presentations and interactive discussions:

  • 15:30 – Welcome & Visits: Reception of participants with an optional visit to the EAFC Herbuchenne coppersmithing workshop.
  • 16:00 – Keynote Presentations: Experts will discuss topics such as the transmission of gestures from master to student, the European Copper Network, the history of medieval coppersmiths, and the results of the 2025 survey of artisans.
  • 17:45 – Round Tables: Following a coffee break, attendees can join focused discussions on Professional practice, Teaching coppersmithing and transmitting skills to the youth, Valorizing the craft in museums and exhibitions.
