The tradition of toy craftsmanship lives on! The European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 and Seiffen, the heart of Erzgebirge wooden toy manufacturing, invite you to a unique event:
European Toy Maker Festival 2025
August 29–31, 2025
Former swimming pool in Seiffen, Saxony
We are looking for toy makers from all over Europe who would like to present their craftsmanship and engage in dialogue with other artisans from the Ore Mountains, Germany, and Europe — and with all visitors. Wooden toy makers are especially welcome, as their work reflects the diversity and tradition of this special craft.
Who can participate?
- Professional toy makers, craft workshops, and artisans
- Focus on wooden toys and related crafts
- Innovators who combine traditional techniques with modern approaches
What to expect?
- A stage and marketplace to showcase your art and products to an international audience
- Workshops and demonstrations to provide insights into your work and inspire visitors
- Exchange and networking with other toy makers, artists, and experts
- A colorful supporting program with musical and cultural highlights for the whole family
- A unique location — bringing the historic swimming pool back to life after many years
Selection Criteria
A board of trustees made up of experienced toy makers and the Makers, Business & Arts program of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 will select up to ten participants based on:
- European diversity
- Quality and originality of the presentation idea
- Balance of young and experienced toy makers and diversity
Application

Your application should include:
- A brief introduction of yourself/your business
- Photos and short descriptions of your products
- Information on possible workshops or demonstrations you would like to offer
Conditions
- Selected toy makers will receive a fee of €1000 net
- The fee includes all travel, insurance, and transport costs
- Accommodation on site for up to seven days will be provided
- Arrival no later than August 27, departure from September 1
- If you sell products on site, the fee will be reduced
