DESCRIPTION:A Craft Happening by ESPRONCEDA within the European project Craftwork 4.0 ALL \nAre you an artist or craft practitioner interested in working with living materials\, exploring balance in transformation\, and shaping form through gesture and intuition? \nWood\, Paint & Living Forms is a one-day Craft Happening organized by ESPRONCEDA – Institute of Art & Culture\, as part of the European project Craftwork 4.0 ALL. This collective session invites participants into a temporary lab where wood\, pigment\, fibre\, clay\, plant matter\, and found fragments become tools for sculptural experimentation and shared creation. \nWorkshop description\nBringing together 20 artists and craft practitioners\, Equilibrium in Practice expands the conceptual and material themes of HOMEOSTASIS into a hands-on\, shared creative environment. Participants will co-create a collective sculptural installation inside the gallery\, engaging with both natural and recycled materials. \nWorking with wood\, fibre\, plant matter\, pigment\, clay\, found fragments\, and reclaimed structural elements\, attendees will echo the hybrid materiality found in Mark Redden’s sculptural work. Digital components may also be incorporated\, drawing on ESPRONCEDA’s experience with experimental labs and interdisciplinary formats. \nThe collective piece will evolve continuously throughout the session. Participants will assemble\, dismantle\, and reconfigure sculptural elements in response to one another—enacting homeostasis as a living\, adaptive process where stability and change coexist. DESCRIPTION:For the upcoming Carrousel des Métiers d’Art et de Création\, Jérôme Gaussin – Artisan du Vitrail • Paris – is presenting a unique live creation performance: “Light Fragments”\, a contemporary stained glass piece based on an original composition by visual artist Lukas Works. DESCRIPTION:This presentation will explore four projects that focus on the cultural aspects of craft practices. The examples will be drawn from the diverse and multifaceted career of Róisín de Buitléar\, whose journey began as a craft practitioner. Through these case studies\, the talk will examine heritage crafts such as lacemaking\, weaving\, and glassmaking as vehicles for artistic exploration and income generation. The discussion will highlight the various opportunities that emerged from these practices\, including recorded works\, live performances\, national and international exhibitions\, public art projects\, and community engagement. Each of these outcomes has been deeply rooted in cultural resources\, demonstrating the value of heritage in contemporary craft. \nBy drawing on these experiences\, the presentation will illustrate how cultural identity and diversity can inspire new ideas\, foster collaborations\, and create fresh career opportunities. Her artworks are held in public collections across the globe\, including prestigious institutions in Ireland\, Britain\, Japan\, France\, China\, and the USA. including site-specific installations in public buildings in Ireland\, including the National Children’s Hospital\, National Botanical Gardens\, W5 science museum Belfast\, the Basilica of Knock Mayo and Áras an Uachtaráin Dublin. Róisín’s recent focus explores the interplay of sound and light in both exhibition and performance settings. Her collaborative work with contemporary musicians has been shown at Kilkenny Arts Festival\, Solstice Gallery\, and Culture Ireland at Waterford cathedral. Exploring the ephemerality and exclusivity of shared live experiences\, she looks to echo cultural gatherings such as traditional music sessions or seasonal gatherings of natural phenomena. CAUTION! Fragile Tradition in Transition a seminal exhibition focussing on traditions of cutting and engraving glass was shown at yearlong exhibitions at Museum of Glass Tacoma Washington and then at the National Museum of Ireland. In 2024\, her artwork took her to Spain\, Slovenia\, and France and China\, where she was selected to show her evocative glasswork. Notable accolades punctuate her long career\, including being the inaugural artist-in-residence at the National Museum of Ireland from January 2018 to January 2019. In 2022\, she earned the prestigious Bonham’s Special Mention prize at the Venice Glass Week. Currently\, Róisín serves as the artist-in-residence for the climate action project Dinnseanchas\, demonstrating her ongoing commitment to using art as a catalyst for social and environmental change

Why for so long have social norms taught us to strive to be rational\, civilized\, and to control ourselves? What is it about play that is disconcerting? \nOn Tuesday\, April 22\, at 6:00 PM\, we invite you to a lecture by renowned American designer Cas Holman\, an expert in toy design and tools for intergenerational play. In the talk Cas Holman will use examples from her work to illustrate play as an act of rebellion—a joyous method for learning\, expressing oneself\, forming empathetic connections\, pushing boundaries\, and reshaping our world. \nThe lecture serves as a public introduction to the two-day masterclass\, taking place at Center Rog on April 23 and 24. \nAbout the speaker\nCas Holman is the founder and chief designer of the toy company Heroes Will Rise and a former Professor of Industrial Design at Rhode Island School of Design. Cas travels the globe speaking about early education\, the design process\, and the value of play in all aspects of life. She has shared her perspective in workshops and seminars with teams at Google\, Nike\, LEGO Foundation\, Disney Imagineering\, and more. \nSome of her designs include toys like Rigamajig and structures at the Highline in New York and the Liberty Science Center in Jersey City\, New Jersey. She lives in New York City and designs from her studio in Brooklyn. His work often highlights the unique qualities of a particular stone\, whether the vibrant hues of sapphires\, the enchanting depth of tourmalines or the brilliance of other rare gems. CNA\, Confartigianato and Consorzio Materahub consolidate their collaboration through a morning dedicated to artisans. Two information tables will follow until 1 pm.
